40,000 people in the Northland of Kansas City received the second of two postcards today in their mail. Sunday is a big day for Restore when we officially launch our second service.
We are praying that God surprises us again.

Today the first of two "What if" postcards are hitting mailboxes in the Northland of Kansas City. We are inviting 40,000 of our closest friends to join us at Restore as we reproduce from one service (10am) to two services (9:30am and 11:00am). We are very excited about what God is doing and can't wait to see Him continue to change lives through real people. Here is the card we are sending out.

Josh and I took a trip to the Post Office today to deliver our last two postcards for the Grand Opening of Restore Community Church. We walked in and they said, "Hey aren't you the bagel guy? You usually come on Friday." Note to self...keep taking bagels to the post office...they really like them.
We chose to send our last postcards to more targetted areas. What if...Kids, we are sending to the 10,000 single family homes closest to our launch location. What if...Restored, we are sending to the 10,000 apartment homes closest to our location. They should be receiving them on Thursday or Friday.
We have been getting great feedback. We have receieved numerous phone calls and emails from people asking questions and letting us know they plan on attending on March 2nd. Here are a couple...
I received a couple notices in the mail about your new church. i an 47 yr old, single and havent gone to church in 30 years. i was raised a strict catholic but there are alot of things about organized religion that totally turns me off. so your church caught my attention. i have some questions im hoping you can answer.

Postcard #4 for Restore Community Church was dropped off at the Post Office today. As I went in to pay the postage I got a lot of thank yous for the bagels. Every time I dropped off 50,000 postcards, I also delivered a dozen bagels. My postal friends have greatly enjoyed them.
I think this postcard is my favorite. The idea that God invites us to be a part of His plan for changing the world gets me up everyday.
We have gotten over a dozen calls and emails requesting more information. Many from people who describe themselves as someone who doesn't go to church or skeptical of organized religion yet interested in what we are doing. Janet has written the names on our kitchen wall and we pray for them daily.
I look forward to seeing how God shows up in the faces of real people at our Grand Opening on March 2nd.

This morning I delivered postcard #3 for Restore Community Church to the Post Office. The folks at the bulk mail distribution center and I are getting to know each other. Just about the time we get done, I may have some new friends (and buying them bagels every week doesn't hurt).
Over the past week, the number of phone calls and website visits have went up dramatically. I have had some great conversations with people at all different places on their spiritual journey. I got a chance to pray with someone and after I prayed, they said..."What you just said...back at ya!".
Jessica Bowman, our Kids' City director, had a conversation with a neighbor who works at one of the local high schools. Her neighbor said there was a buzz at the school and that numbers of people were planning on attending on the March 2nd Grand Opening.
Everyday I get a little more excited about what God is doing here in the Northland of Kansas City and that he has invited us to play.
By the way, Janet McMahon wrote most of the copy for our postcards...and she says this is her favorite card. What do you think?

Janet and I took the second of our postcard series to the Post Office today. I dropped our first card off at the Bulk Mail Distribution Center in Kansas City last Friday and some people 
received their card on Saturday with most people (like our staff) getting their postcard on Monday.
The staff at the distribution center was so helpful to a novice like me, that I brought them a dozen bagels from Einsteins. They were quite surprised and I got a really nice thank you from them.
We received a few phone calls from our first card and we may have at least one family who said yes to Restore already. Our hits on the new website has jumped significantly. We are praying that these postcards stir up people's hearts and lead them to Restore and ultimately Jesus.

Yesterday I delivered the first of our Restore postcards to the Post Office. As I dropped them off at this massive distribution center, I felt like I did the first time I dropped my son Jake off at school. "Please take care of my precious cargo."
We have been working with Church Marketing Solutions to develop a six card series. They have been great to work with and I think the cards and copy that Janet has developed with CMS totally rock and am so excited to see how God uses these to bring people to Restore and ultimately into relationship with Jesus. In the next month, we will be sending four cards to 50,000 homes; an additional card to 10,000 homes; and the last card to 10,000 apartments. If you do the math, 30,000 will receive 4 cards, 10,000 homes will get 5 cards and 10,000 apartments will get 5 cards.
Here is the first card that should hit homes beginning next Monday or so.
