Today Janet and I and our kids joined Dave and Sue Ferguson and their family for the National Junior Olympic cross country championships at the University of Kansas. Josh Ferguson and his team, the Naperville Track Club, competed with 25 other teams from across the country. Josh and his team did great by finishing 9th in the nation.
After the meet, we headed over to KU to visit Janet's old college stomping grounds. She hadn't been there for 20 years.
Somehow in the midst of my family, Jake became a huge KU Jayhawk fan. This was definitely not part of the plan, but it is real. So he had to take a photo op with one of the bazillion Jayhawks on campus.
There is one really fond memory I have at KU. In March of 1985, the day before spring break, I picked up my lovely girlfriend, drove her to the Campanile (bell tower), kissed her, and then got down on one knee and asked her to marry me. One of the best decisions of my life...Oh yeah...she said YES.
We capped off the day having dinner together at Smokehouse BBQ in Zona Rosa. I love the Ferguson family. This relationship has changed my life.
Thanks for your kind words Francie. That daughter of yours is something special.
