Everyone seems to have family traditions at holidays. For my family our Thanksgiving tradition when we are at Mom and Dad's house is to go out to eat for Thanksgiving dinner.
Growing up, when I was in junior high and high school, we would always go to Joe's Barn in Stanley KS where all the workers were dressed up like Pilgrims. Now that my kids are that age and my parents have moved to Arkansas, we go up the mountain to the Lodge at Queen Wilhelmina State Park. Food is great, but the time with family is definitely priceless.
Another crazy tradition we are trying to start is a touch or flag football game between old and young. My brothers (Mark and Tim) and I took on my sons (Jake and Mitch) and my niece Alyssa's fiance (Greg). This tradition will be short lived. The old guys lost because we had to forfeit due to pain, Tim and I both pulled muscles that had not been used in years. My mind was constantly two steps ahead of my body. Aging is painful.
As I reflect on this past week I realize that I have a wonderful extended family who loves me and loves Jesus. What a blessing.
Ok, you ARE younger than Jeff, but he and his buddies quit playing the turkey bowl years ago...due to injuries! Now they usually play cards, much safer for the old guys! :) Sounds like you had fun anyway...thanks for sharing!
