Choosing Friends Wisely

Facebook screen shotWhoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm” (Proverbs 13:20)

Yesterday at Restore we unpacked what it means to develop deep friendships.  We explored the story of Jonathan and David.  How he literally saved David's life.  And how David never again had a friend like that...and without this type of friend, David made some very unwise choices.

We talked about what it was like to have and/or be a Facebook friend and how it differs from having wise friends who "Make Life Work."  Oh by the way, I am trying to have as many facebook friends as possible so "ADD ME"

We challenged every one with the following:

  1. Availability: Make yourself available to someone you consider a friend or potential friend this week. Take time to slow down.
  2. Authenticity: Make it a point to be more open and authentic with a friend than you usually would. Be willing to ask and listen for the stuff behind the stuff. And be willing to share.
  3. Accountability:  Ask someone you know to hold you accountable to a positive change you are trying to make.

Do you have a friend who you are available to, authentic with, and accountable to?  What do you see as barriers?
